Patricia Ann Havlik, aged 86, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones after a lengthy illness on June 17, 2017 in Lake Jackson, TX.
Pat was born to Minnie Lee and William J. Husch on January 29, 1931 on the family farm in Caldwell, KS. In the mid-thirties the family moved to Cameron, TX, then to Houston, and eventually in 1941, when Dow Chemical was under construction, they relocated to Camp Chemical and later a duplex in Freeport. Patricia Ann Havlik, aged 86, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones after a lengthy illness on June 17, 2017 in Lake Jackson, TX.
Pat was born to Minnie Lee and William J. Husch on January 29, 1931 on the family farm in Caldwell, KS. In the mid-thirties the family moved to Cameron, TX, then to Houston, and eventually in 1941, when Dow Chemical was under construction, they relocated to Camp Chemical and later a duplex in Freeport. In 1942, while occupying a house in Lake Jackson. Pat's father built the family's next home on Magnolia.
Pat attended Freeport High School and graduated in 1949. After graduation she started nursing school in Waco. She first met her future husband, Maurice Daniel (Maury) Havlik, at a CYO dance in Freeport. They continued dating while she attended school in Waco. After getting engaged, she left nursing school.
Pat and Maury were married at St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Freeport on September 1, 1949. They lived in an apartment in Freeport while her father and Maury built their home on Acacia in Lake Jackson. She was a loving and devoted mother to four children. Pat was active in a bridge club for many years, enjoyed needlework, gardening, volunteering at the hospital, cooking, entertaining, and vacationing in the Texas Hill Country. She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. After Maury's retirement, they travelled extensively in their RV.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William J. Husch, Jr. and his wife Marilyn, sister-in-law Cheryl, and her husband of 61 years Maury.
She is survived by her children Jay Michael, Steven Mark, David Maury (wife Kelly) and granddaughter Kaitlyn, Sarita Patrice (husband Larry Marshall) and granddaughter Adie (husband Mike Walls), great grandchildren Connor, Natalie and Mason, her brother John Michael Husch (wife Dovie), nephew Byron Husch (wife Christina) and sons Logan, and Tyler, sister Mary Jane Byfield and niece Karen, niece Jennifer Gamblin (husband Jim) and children Dylan, Nicole, Clay, and Will.
The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice and the Caregivers of Help Inc. for their compassionate care which allowed Pat to remain in her home during her later years.
Visitation of family and friends will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Thursday June, 22 2017 from 6:00pm- 8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Friday June 23, 2017 at 11:00am.
